Today I'd like us to talk about posters, cards, and how they can stimulate children's learning.
These resources make studying motivating and even fun, which is why teaching with posters can be very beneficial for your children.
What is a poster?
Educational posters are sheets that show symbols, images, words, numbers... on the same topic.
It is a very easy-to-use material that summarizes key ideas visually.
That's why children learn while having fun and hardly realize they're studying.
They are a great educational addition. Thanks to posters, children stay interested in what they're learning and find it much easier to assimilate concepts and ideas.
These posters are mainly used to memorize content.
Using them is very beneficial for your children.
What are the benefits of using posters for learning?
Whether you're a teacher or a mom or dad, this material will help you teach new concepts or review them at home.
It's such a versatile way of studying and works wonderfully with children.
By using posters, you present a complete topic to your children, which they can understand more easily. For example, on a poster that presents the numbers from 1 to 100, your child will be able to see what comes after each number. You can teach them how to count in tens, by 5s, or in the appropriate multiples. You can teach counting in parts. Your child will see how many times a single number is repeated on that poster. There are countless ways you can teach by presenting a complete topic on a poster or sign. Let your imagination run wild, and you'll see all the activities you can implement.
Benefits of posters for teachers
It is increasingly necessary to become actively involved in the classroom.
And posters are a great way to do that. And they have many benefits.
- Through repetition, you build student confidence each time they give a correct answer. With a poster as a visual aid, it's much easier for them to assimilate the content.
- The visual aspect makes working with posters feel more like a game than studying, so students will be more motivated and active.
- Promotes creativity and multi-thinking.
- Improve the learning experience of each topic.
- You can conduct an assessment in a simple, immediate, and highly effective way without it seeming like you're giving them a test.
Benefits of posters for children
Students are undoubtedly the most benefited from this method:
- They promote active recall. This is a type of memory that stimulates neural connections and strengthens them, improving assimilation and memory.
- Having the answer at hand and being able to reach it makes them do the work of self-reflection, which creates deeper memories.
- They are highly adaptable resources that you can use to review all your school subjects at home.
- It can be used with one or more people. Games, contests, questions and answers, etc. can be set up.
You can also use posters in another language.
You can benefit from the posters to study any topic in another language.
It is the easiest way to learn new vocabulary and assimilate it from a very early age.
I'll tell you about my experience teaching my children with posters.
With the arrival of the pandemic, we were faced with forced homeschooling, and mothers who weren't used to it were forced out of our comfort zones, finding it necessary to reinforce our children's classes and all the content they needed.
I don't know if the same thing happened to you as to me, but in the case of my youngest daughter, we decided to take her out of school and stimulate her more at home since I couldn't get used to the idea of her taking classes in front of a computer.
With my oldest son, it was no longer an option, so I had to use my resources to help him learn in the best way possible.
We all had a hard time taking the classes, and between not paying attention and not being used to spending so much time in front of the computer, with barely participating in the classes since the teacher asked for microphones to be muted... well, if the same thing happened to you, you know what I mean.
To make a long story short, the posters helped us tremendously. We adapted a room in my house with a desk appropriate for my children's height, along with all their visual aids.
We put our OOOK! LEARNING SUPPLIES posters with all the topics on the wall, or within easy reach so we could have them on their desks while the teacher was teaching. Or while we were doing an activity on a topic, we had them handy for reference.
Having this content visible was and continues to be very beneficial . Since they're laminated, we can grate them, glue them with clay, take them to kindergarten... in short, there are so many ways to present the topic they need to learn and make it fun to study.
Personally, as a user of this material, I recommend that you implement them when reviewing at home. I'm not lying when I say that teaching with posters can be very beneficial for our children.
I hope you enjoyed this post and that it helped you better understand why educational posters are so important.
A hug,
Gaby
