Why is early stimulation important?

Today I want to talk to you and motivate you to believe in the efficiency and long-term results we achieve by providing early stimulation in our children's learning.

It is considered very important for optimal brain development in children, as it enhances brain functions in all aspects, including cognitive, linguistic, motor, and social aspects.

While it's true that schooling begins later and sometimes isn't given as much importance until the age of 4, our brains, however, need information to help them develop. Their growth depends on the quantity and quality of stimuli they receive; the more information we can provide, the better. Keep in mind that this is stimulation; the brain will receive and store it to enhance it later.

The brain at an early age has greater plasticity, which allows connections between neurons to be established more efficiently and quickly.

Our little ones are born with great potential, but to ensure that this potential develops, as parents we must collaborate and provide the maximum opportunity to stimulate them in their maturation process, trying to provide the greatest amount of stimulation from an early age, since maximum neuronal development occurs between birth and the third year of life, and then gradually disappears until they reach six years of age.

But be careful, every child has their own learning pace, and their own pace for learning and developing each skill. So, as an essential part of this, we must learn to read their behavior and respect their needs. Every stimulus we provide must be in a pleasant, comfortable, and loving environment, at an opportune time, with love, and through play.

So, to summarize, early stimulation from a young age is of utmost importance, as it allows us to take advantage of the brain's capacity and plasticity for optimal development in different areas. This stimulation should be provided consistently through age-appropriate activities and in a pleasant environment for the child.

Now I want to share a little about my experience with you. I have two little ones, ages 3 and 6. Since they were 3 months old, I've worked hard to stimulate them physically and cognitively. At the time, I used to dedicate three hours a week to being able to concentrate and dedicate myself 100% to that moment. Not only do we have a great time playing, singing, and cuddling, but I also know that I added great value to their skills and helped me connect with them. Now that they're older, especially with Santiago, who is 6, I realize that he finds it easier to grasp many concepts that we've seen every day, even though the content wasn't "appropriate" to his age. Now that school demands more effort from him, I see his ability to understand and his ease in absorbing the content. I'd like to think that it's partly due to these years of continuous learning and stimulation that we've provided to his brain. I love thinking that as a mother, I've had the opportunity to provide them with value, which will be reflected throughout their development.

That's why, as a mother, I dare to tell you to encourage yourself to offer your little ones as much stimulation as possible in their various cognitive and motor areas. You'll have a lot to gain and will surely have fun with your little one.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I'd love for you to share your experience. I'll read your comments.

A hug

Gaby,
