Here at OOOK! Learning Supplies, we're always looking for ways to empower our little ones and make sure learning is fun, which is why we were inspired to create the Practicing with Addition and Subtraction workbook.

Math is often a stumbling block and a source of frustration when it becomes difficult for our children. So we decided to integrate addition and subtraction with crossword puzzles, coloring, reasoning challenges, logical thinking, sequencing, mazes, true-false, and problem-solving, among other games.

To make it appealing to our sons and daughters, the theme chosen is one they love: dinosaurs.

What is it for?

What are its benefits?

Mathematics teaches order and logic, as precise steps must be followed to arrive at the correct result. In this way, it teaches us to think.

To be able to follow a recipe, calculate discounts, count money, buy a car, create a budget, and basically everything, we need mathematical thinking.

If we use this workbook as a fun challenge, we are preparing our children for life.

How does it work?

The first thing we have to keep in mind is that every child develops at their own pace and progresses in their own way. So, it's not a race to finish, but rather an opportunity for fun and learning.

This notebook, when used as a recreational activity, allows everyone to learn at their own pace, without exerting pressure.

You can even implement a reward system for correct answers to provide extra motivation. Little ones love stickers, stamps, or happy face drawings on their hands, so we can use these as rewards.

How to use?

• Drawings help us see mathematical situations more clearly, which helps us solve problems. Therefore, we can have blank sheets of paper on hand to serve as a support.
• Since this isn't a school notebook, you can use different colors for the different exercises. Also, depending on your preference, you can use markers, colored pencils, and/or crayons to color the pages.
• Another excellent ally, besides the abacus or fingers, is modeling clay. They can roll small balls and use them to add or subtract, making it more visual and practical.

Or a more engaging alternative could be to use dinosaur toys, toy cars, dolls, balls, or really any toy or object that catches their attention and you have at home, so we can make the exercises interactive.
