How does it work?

We explain to the little ones about emotions and how they're all valid to feel at some point. We clarify that we must work through emotions like anger or disgust without hurting ourselves, someone else, or something else.

We show them the posters in a quiet moment, talking with them, explaining what they're for and how and when we're going to use them.

Ideally, you'd have a special corner, called a calm corner, for which both calm posters are perfect. Bring the materials mentioned in the poster (balloons, books, colored paper and pencils, etc.), since anything that involves manual work helps free the mind by focusing on the action being performed.

Let our little ones participate in creating their own calming corner, choosing how to decorate it. Make it clear that it's not a place of punishment, but a special place to recover after being sad, in crisis, or feeling nervous. It's also a comforting space where they can learn to control their impulses with the emotional traffic light, which serves as a guide before they lose control.
