Easy math for kids. Play and learn with numbers.

When should we start teaching math to our children? And above all, how should we do it?

Our goal is to make learning easy , because we do it with games, entertainment, and fun. And the good news is, you're probably already teaching your little ones without even realizing it.

Mathematics is so present in our daily lives that we probably don't even notice it anymore.

Have you ever gone grocery shopping with your children? Did you bake any cakes or cookies? Can you walk past objects or people without bumping into them? Do you set the table for meals?

If you answered yes, it's because mathematical language is already present in their lives. Great!

Now, let's talk about 9 ideas we can do to make numbers a part of our daily lives :

1. The forms:

When we are out for a walk, when we see objects, we point and say:

- “Look, the door of that house is a brown rectangle.”

- “Wow, that giant rock is round.”

-”Do you see the square sign over there?”

In this way you will acquire the foundations for geometry, with the concepts of shape, size, space and direction.

2. Count:

Everything we can say out loud, we do:

When climbing the stairs, we can count the steps.

While we sort the toys, we count how many cars or dolls we put in the box.

When brushing our teeth we can count,

There he learns the order and names of numbers.

3. Classify:

Toys, fruits, vegetables and objects.

We separate the toys by color, or we form patterns by lining up apples, pears, carrots, and tomatoes.

By recognizing patterns and categories , you will have the foundation to learn how to make equations when the time comes.

4. Cook:

We know that measuring in grams, tablespoons, or cups is essential for recipes. This is also important for calculating quantities . So, we can explain, for example, that a handful of rice is used per person, and if there are five of us, how many handfuls of rice do we need?

5. Put together puzzles:

Learning to put together a puzzle is an excellent way to develop math skills.

They teach the spatial system, shapes and sizes , as well as attention and organization.

6. Go to the Supermarket:

As we load the fruits and vegetables, we can count out loud the quantity we chose of each one.

You can also play the game “which weighs more ” and compare the fruits and/or vegetables. When you put them on the scale, see the result to see who guessed correctly.

Another option is to ask them to tell us what we're going to put in the cart, telling us how much of each product they should take.

7. Board games:

We can go back to our childhood and play board games, which help

This means that while children play, they are learning the concepts of space, geometry, and dimensions.

8. Travel:

Along the way, we tell them how many kilometers our destination is. The distance between one city and another. How many blocks from our lodging are the places we're going to visit.

Even along the way, we can count how many vehicles we see of each color, or do it by brand.

9. Activity books:

When we go out, instead of the kids staring at screens , they can play with activity books. While they color, they can observe the numbers.

In addition to solving number problems, it has crossword puzzles, mazes, and true and false answers. It's full of challenges that are great for kids to play and learn.

At OOOK! Learning Supplies, we have our very own activity book, Practicing Addition and Subtraction, created not only for learning and teaching math, but also for English, because, like all our products, it's bilingual. It helps our children learn to reason, use logical thinking, and, above all, enjoy themselves and have a good time. You can get it in both digital and physical versions.

If you already have one of our other products, they can also help you with math.

We can use the world map to learn distances and acquire spatial location.

The poster set, in English and Spanish, teaches geometric shapes, numbers, opposites, and time.

Math posters and the units of measurement poster are allies for school.

I'm only sharing the mathematical side of these products with you, so I'll leave you the link so you can

you can look at the other uses and advantages of the rest of the physical products and digital products .

Let's take advantage of the fact that we now know how we can help our little ones enjoy math classes and that getting good grades doesn't have to be a pain.
